2D Animation

Friday the 13th of June wasn’t unlucky for us (5G) because we learnt how to make a stop frame animation film. Like Wallace and Gromit but with 2D pictures. In the morning a group of ICT advisors from Stafford with Mrs Mould came to teach us how.

Firstly, they put us in groups of three and sat us by a camera and laptop. Then they told us what animation we were going to make. It was a smiley faced ball called Bob. Bob had to go on lots of different missions. That’s why the movie was called Mission Impossiball! Then they showed us a demo on how to make it and then they let us go…

Next, we got an envelope that told us all what we had to make Bob do. E.g. Tightrope Bob, Rowing Bob and even Tarzan Bob! You had to put the Bob in place on the background and take a lot of photos on the software. It took twelve shots to make one second of film so we carried on till dinner time. We were so keen we came back early from dinner time to do sound. You spoke normally in the microphone but you compressed Bob’s voice so it was really squeaky.

When we all finished our part of the film Mrs Mould collected all our films together on a memory stick and made one big film of Bob’s adventures to save his girlfriend Roberta.

You can see photos of us making our film and click here to watch the complete film.
