Primary Futures Afternoon
Thank you to all the Primary Futures volunteers
On 1st February we were delighted to welcome thirteen volunteers from different jobs and professions to school to talk to our Year 5 and year 6 pupils about their work. The volunteers came from a range of different backgrounds including health, education, the law, manufacturing, the forces and sport and leisure. Several of the volunteers were from the NAHT Primary Futures programme and others were parents and governors from our school.
The aim of the programme is to help raise children’s awareness and aspirations about different jobs. The children really enjoyed listening to the volunteers and asked them lots of interesting questions. The volunteers told the children about the type of work they did and also explained why the key skills of Maths, English, communication and teamwork are so important for many jobs. The children also found out that it is important to work hard in school in order to get an interesting job!
