Learning and Growing Together

Monday 11th January 2021

Hello and welcome back to another week of exciting learning and activities.  We are starting our new topic called 'It's Cold Outside'.

Get ready for your learning with a Penguin Wake Up Shake Up.

Our topic is based around the book 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers.

Before you listen to the story have a look at the front cover and with your adult have a think about the following questions -

What/who can you see?

Where have they been?

Where are they going?

How are they getting there?

Why are they looking in different directions?

What are they looking for?

What is in the case?

How are they feeling?

What are they thinking?

What might they be saying to each other?

Mrs Pearson reads you the story about friendship, a boy and a penguin.

Today, enjoy discussing and using the discussion book with Mrs Hardwick.  The book is called 'At The Concert'.

Mrs Cornell is going to help you read the story 'Big Bad Bug'.

Keep practising your phonics today we are recapping i, n, m and d.

Our new sound of the day is 'w'. Learn all about the letter 'w' with Mrs Pearson. For an extra challenge, download and print off the 'My w Workbook' in the attachments below.

In maths, Mrs Rawlings will teach you all about Magic Number Six. You will need to click here to access the 'Ten Green Bottles' counting song before you start.

Watch the clip about penguins so you can learn all about where they live.  Penguins are black, white and have a little bit of orange on their beak.  Can you collect lots of things around your house that are black, white and orange and make a penguin on your floor?  Don't forget to ask your adult to take a photo of your creation and send it to your teacher.
