Topic - What's a Greenhouse? (Continued)

This week we are going to be exploring all the different parts of a greenhouse. We are going to look at the Eden project to see how this structure was made and start the design process taking inspiration from greenhouses all around the globe. Our big problem is that our sunflowers need a structure to keep them warm and help them grow. Last week we thought a greenhouse would be the perfect solution.

  • Watch a video about the Eden Project about talk to your family all about the video.
  • Have a look at your design of your greenhouse. What do you want to change? How could you improve it?
  • Collect different materials in your house that you could use to create a greenhouse.
  • Start to join the different materials together and start the construction of your greenhouse.
  • Take photos and label each part that you have made.

Please use  Discovery Education Espresso for age appropriate videos and online activities.

Mindfulness: Choose some music that you really love doing in your home and dedicate 20 minutes a day to having some music listening time for you. This could be some upbeat music, some calming music or some music you and your family just love to listen to. Record how different pieces make you feel.

Phonics - Please see your child's home phonics folder for specific sounds and tricky sight words that your child needs to learn. All other resources are on the Phonics page within the Year 1 class page. Please see 'useful websites' for any other guidance.
