Week beginning: 25.01.21

Hello again! We hope you enjoyed doing some of the activities that we suggested on last week's Home Learning page. This week we are continuing to think about 'Winter'.

  Craft Activity:

Do you think you could have a go at painting a picture of a snowman? What colour paint do you need? White of course! Your snowman needs a hat, a scarf, 2 stick arms and a face with a carrot nose! You could also give your snowman some buttons.  Have a look at the example to help you. If you don't have paint, maybe you could draw a picture of a snowman using felt tips, crayons or chalk instead. Don't forget to send us a photo of your snowman pictures, we'd love to see them!

Physical Activity:

There are lots of different things we can do to practise our fine motor skills so that we develop more control in our hands and fingers. Why not try some of the ideas on these Activity Cards?  Let us know how you get on!

Remember to do some physical exercise everyday to keep your body fit and healthy! There are so many different ways you can do this - go for a walk, ride your bike or play football in the garden. You could also try Peppa Pig's copying game or do some yoga with Duggee on CBeebies. Have fun!

This week we are thinking about recognising numbers and counting objects. Click here to have a go at matching the correct number to each group of objects. Remember to count the objects carefully first!

Ask an adult (or a big brother or sister) to write numbers 1 to 5 on separate pieces of paper. Now see if you can put them in the right order. Which number comes first? Which is next? Did you manage to order them correctly? Well done! Now you could try the same activity with numbers up to 10!

We also enjoy watching Numberblocks on cBeebies on iPlayer.

This week we are learning to recognise and write the letters 'n' and 'm'.

Have a go at making your own sound bag using objects around your house. Firstly, find things beginning with 'n'. Pop them in a bag or a spare pillow case. What did you find? A necklace? A net? Can you think of any other words that begin with 'n'?

Now have a go at writing 'n'.  You could use felt tips, pencil crayons, chalks or wax crayons on paper, or use your finger in sand or salt. You will need to start at the top of the 'n', go down then back up to the top and over. We don't take our pencil off when we write this letter.

Later this week you could make a sound bag with things beginning with 'm'. What did you find? A monkey? A mask? A map? What else?

When you have a go at writing 'm' you need to start at the top of the stick, go down, back up to the top and over, then back up and over again. Don't take your pencil off! Try to hold your pencil near the point between your first two fingers and thumb.

Click here for a letter formation sheet to help you.

Why not have a go at our Phase 1 Phonics challenge.

We also enjoy watching Alphablocks on cBeebies on iPlayer.

Please send us some photos of your learning this week! We'd love to see what you've been up to!
