Spring Term-Nursery Rhyme Focus
This half term we are thinking about Nursery Rhymes.
In Nursery we will be:
-Singing and listening for rhyming words in our favourite songs.
-Learning new words eg. rhyme, stars, moon, nocturnal.
-Sharing fiction and non-fiction books to include learning about nocturnal animals, spiders, eggs and Easter.
-Using various techniques and materials to create pictures and models eg. printing, sticking, cutting, folding, joining, marble painting and mark making.
-Playing small group turn taking games.
-Thinking about our feelings and emotions, helping us to feel 'Green' so that we are calm, happy and ready to listen, learn and share with our friends. (Zones of Regulation)
Letters and Sounds Phase One Phonics
Each week we are thinking about a different aspect and enjoying a small group activity:
Aspect 1 - Environmental Sounds
Aspect 2 - Instrumental Sounds
Aspect 3 - Body Percussion
Aspect 4 - Rhythm and Rhyme
Aspect 5 - Alliteration
Aspect 6 - Voice sounds
Aspect 7 - Oral blending and segmenting
We will also be learning a song of the week which focuses on one of the aspects.
Each week we will be learning about different concepts and enjoying a small group activity:
-Copying and continuing a pattern using 2 colours.
-Comparing 2 groups of objects, recognising when they are the same or different.
-Exploring 3D shapes using construction toys eg. wooden bricks.
-Separating a group of up to 5 objects in different ways, knowing that the total is still the same.
-Finding one more and one less than a number up to 5.
-Exploring capacity by filling and emptying various containers.
